The War on the Bill of Rights

So, random thought of the day: what if the "War on Drugs" and the "War on Terrorism" are simply part of a larger, long term plan to erode the freedoms granted by the bill of rights to create a separate sub-class of citizens?

I've always felt that the War on Drugs was simply a means of getting a blank check from Congress to make war in Central & South America and interfere with the regimes that the leaders in the United States, or the businesses that elect them, find unpopular or unwieldy.

The War on Terror appears to be a similar assault on the countries/cultures of the middle east.

Consequently, if you are a citizen of the USA caught up in those conflicts, you often have to surrender your rights. Perhaps because you made foolish choices in life and you void your 4th amendment Rights against illegal search & seizure by the authorities. Or indefinite confinement without legal representation for being suspected of being part of al queda.

Why can't we have a Global War Against Stupidity? Perhaps throwing all the money to stop the flow of drugs, weapons, etc, towards great educational systems could save the future from us here in the present?

We can't fix the past. We can't avoid the present. But we can change the course of the future.
